KOREA NATIONAL PENSION SERVICE HEADQUARTERS
The curvilinear landscape plan, inspired by the form of the nearby Youngchun River, allows for “pocket” landscape spaces such as small public parks and recreational grounds. The building form is raised with pilotis to allow for continuous movement on the grounds, while striking a careful balance between controlled access for institutional functions and community use. A multi-layered façade design uses louvers of varying depth, pattern-laminated double glazing, and colored interior atrium glass to register a treelike form on the façade, while retaining a high level of sustainability. This iconic facade thus embodies the metaphor of a tree on a hill casting shadows for people to take rest under, identifying KNPS as a dependable institution serving both the nation at large and the local community.
