Haeahn Architecture

Cǽlĭtus is located where the Han River is on its South, Yongsan Family Park is on its North, Floating Island is on its East, and the 63 Building is on its West. The original goal for this project was to create a landmark that will open a new prospect of residential architecture.

‘Crystal’ is taken as a motive for the elevation, which gives a shape of a ‘prism’ image that displays a unique light that projects the Han River. In spite of its unique form of reconstruction, which is 1:1 reconstruction, the site is reduced by one quarter of its original site to build a public axis that continues toward the Han River on the East side of the block. This could improve the surrounding environment and also acquire publicness through the connection with the Han River. An L-shaped small park and linear park are made beside the Hangang Park, and additional facilities, canopy roof gardens are continuously built, which is created as a ‘Small Place of Relaxation in the City’. The goal for this project was to form equal room size to all apartments and all have the view of the Han River. It is arranged in a form that surrounds the three apartment buildings but the massing is adjusted to let all four housing units to have a view of the Han River. A 9m height piloti and a public canopy are installed so that residents are not exposed to the rain and so that the lobby and the subsidiary facilities are naturally connected.

On the 17th floor, it is equipped with a 人-shaped sky bridge that connects the three buildings and subsidiary facilities. It is built to boost community activities of residents as well as to equally enjoy the view of the Han River. Residents can also use the channel connected among the buildings in case of emergency. The “Sky Bridge”, having a unique form of organically connecting the three buildings, is contributing to Cǽlĭtus of becoming the new landmark of the Han Riverside.
