PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION TOWN PHASE 2 SUBDIVISION 2
Workplace & Lab, Public & Cultural, Commercial
Sejong, Republic of Korea
In the design of the building complex, the scheme created various optimal office spaces corresponding with unique characteristics of each Ministries. Different functions were cohesively unified with multi-dimensional connections including bridges and green roofs. The underside of buildings generated by pilotis not only creates outdoor areas of rest and recreation, but also functions as the ‘6th façade’ accommodating way-finding graphics for visitors. Dynamic topology changes on the ground- such as berms- meet both sustainability and security needs for the building. As a starting point of the overall curvilinear governmental complex at the town, this building is a significant landmark and gate for the town. Simultaneously, the design lends itself to civic programs such as parks, playgrounds and occupiable green roofs.
