Sangmin You is a highly accomplished architect with nearly two decades of experience shaping the built environment in New York City and internationally. Since 2022, he has served as Principal of H Architecture, leading projects with a focus on design excellence and strategic vision. Prior to founding the practice, he held senior designer and leadership roles at globally recognized firms, including Richard Meier & Partners Architects and Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R), where he contributed to culturally and architecturally significant projects worldwide.

At H Architecture, Sangmin leads a diverse portfolio of significant and culturally driven projects. His work includes a 55-story mixed-use high-rise in Lower Manhattan; the art gallery “Space: Zero One” in Tribeca; the 55,000-square-foot immersive digital museum “Arte Museum NY” at Chelsea Piers; and the award-winning “Convergence Special Video Content Cluster” in Daejeon, Korea. In parallel with built work, he actively engages in prestigious international design competitions, expanding the firm’s global design footprint.

His work reflects a rare synthesis of design vision and technical rigor. At Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R), Sangmin led construction documentation and administration for major institutional and corporate projects, including Microsoft’s East Campus “Square Building” in Seattle and the 130,000-square-foot “Google NYC Campus” at Pier 57. Over more than 13 years at Richard Meier & Partners (Meier Architects), he advanced through the roles of Senior Designer, Project Architect, and Project Manager, contributing to several signature works. These include “685 First Avenue,” a 42-story residential tower adjacent to the United Nations Headquarters in New York, and the “JEI Gangnam Commercial Building” in Seoul. His portfolio also encompasses numerous award-winning private residences worldwide, notably his signature projects, the “Oxfordshire Residence” in Oxfordshire, England, and the “Flying Point Residence” in Southampton, New York.

Sangmin earned his professional Master's degree from the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation (GSAPP) at Columbia University in the City of New York, where he was awarded the “Lucille Smyser Lowenfish Memorial Prize.” He is a Registered Architect in New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Hawaii, and is an active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). A LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) since 2009, he demonstrates a sustained commitment to sustainable and innovative design practices.
